Nitro-based paints have not been used in the automotive industry since the end of the 1950s. At Jensen, the vehicles of the P1800 model series were still sprayed with these paints. With the start of production in Sweden, the more gloss-resistant acrylic-based paints were then used in the 1800S model series.

Today, only water-based products are used, because the amounts of solvents have to be reduced. The original formulations have to be adapted to the water-based lacquers and modern pigments.

Choosing the right colour

But getting the colour right is no easy task. If you do it not carefully and without professional help, the results will not be satisfactory and will reduce the value of the vehicle. A colour analysis with a spectrophotometer is essential. Owners complain that the colour tone has turned out quite differently than expected. Therefore, samples are sprayed on metal sheets before the final paint job.
