Up to chassis number 9,999, the early models of the Volvo P1800 are fitted with a rev counter with an external signal generator. This is mounted behind the front grill in front of the radiator by the signal horns.

Since components of this encoder can fail after almost 60 years, there may be errors or even failure of the display. Replacement is available. As with the original the components are cast into a housing and thus protected from splashing water.
The new transducer can be retrofitted 1:1 and is no longer fastened with two screws, but with one tab. For this purpose, a shortened original screw can be used
