In the air conditioning systems of the Volvo P1800 model series, the refrigerant circulates through rubber hoses between the individual components of the system. These hoses must be pressure-resistant.
Sealing cones and screw connections covered with O-rings at the ends. The length and diameter of each hose is adapted to the specific function in the air conditioning system.
If defective refrigerant hoses are replaced
- Close free hose ends immediately with protective caps
- Cover the hose connections with new O-rings that have previously been rubbed with compressor oil. Do not use silicone!
- Tighten screw connections to the specified torque
- Add lubricant to the refrigerant compressor

The size of the hoses is determined by the inner diameter of the hose. The outer diameter varies depending on the manufacturer and is therefore not a measure of the hose specification.
* The information on the length of the refrigerant hoses is only approximate, as the dimensions of the fittings and the routing of the hoses in the engine compartment have not been taken into account!

Hose cutter
Do not cut the hose with a knife or saw blade, as no small parts should get into the hose. A hose cutter, on the other hand, produce a clean and smooth cut surface.
